Battle of the Bulge No. 2
Another trouble spot was the northwest corner of the main house. Over the years, the iron brace visible in this photograph had caused the wall section around the brace to develop a troublesome bulge. Bricks near the corner bulged badly. Kauble dealt with this problem by removing the bricks in the worst part of the bulge, inserting props, and constructing a section that was plumber than the original. This was delicate work, so he did most of it himself. It would have been nice if we could have rebuilt this wall from the ground up, but funding didn`t permit it. Despite its irregularities, the wall is perfectly stable and should stand for another two hundred years.
