Demolition of Bathroom
Taken in October, 1996, during the demolition of the ell, this photo shows the east wall of the main house. The roof of the ell has been removed, exposing 180 years of dirt and grime. Visible in the bottom part of the photo are the walls of the bathroom which was added to the May House sometime during the 1930s. The door on the right leads to the foyer. At the present time, the May House doesn`t have an interior restroom. In the Spring of 1998, the Friends Board of Directors voted to install a restroom inside the east room of the one-story ell. It will be a unisex, handicapped-accessible facility. A kitchen will also be installed in the east room.
