New East Wall
This photo shows the new east wall of the house. In August, 1996, a large part of the original east wall was demolished and a new cement-block wall was erected in its place. The new wall was completed in October, 1996. The wall was erected on a poured cement footing. After the cement blocks were in place, they were faced with a wall of bricks recovered from the original wall. Much of this work was done by Jack Kauble, foreman of the project. Extreme care was taken to make sure that the new brick wall fit seamlessly into the old brick wall. Completion of this wall stablized the main house and served as the cornerstone of the restoration process.
