Davidson Sisters, 1910
Taken around 1910, this photo shows Nelle Davidson May, widow of A. J. May, posing with Prestonsburg relatives and friends. Nelle is the woman in the bonnet. The boy in the straw hat is Colonel May, her son by Colonel Andrew Jackson May. The woman kneeling on the left is Victoria Arnold, Nelle`s sister. The man in the wicker chair is Edward Arnold, Victoria`s husband, who owned and operated a funeral home. Tom Burchett, standing on the right, owned the town`s livery stable. The lady standing directly behind Mr. Arnold is Winifred Johns, the wife of Thomas Johns, grandson of early Prestonsburg merchant John Johns. Until it burned in 1987, the Johns House on Front Street was a familiar Prestonsburg landmark.
